九州には鮎師が憧れる大鮎が狙える河川が数多くある。毎年九州に通い、大鮎と対峙しているのが、大物鮎師の坂本禎さん。今回は、2025年9月下旬、福岡県を流れる矢部川水系と尺鮎の宝庫と言われる熊本県の球磨川を攻略する坂本さんの釣行に密着した。良型が揃い、時には尺アユもでることで人気の高い矢部川水系を、久しぶりに狙う坂本さんがどう攻略するのか。矢部川が流れる八女市の特産品も紹介。そして毎年のように通っている球磨川では、渇水で厳しい中、数は出ないが出れば大きいという状況で尺鮎を狙う。
